Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has designated August as “Asian Longhorned Beetle Awareness Month” to make citizens and visitors aware of the serious threat the non-native beetle poses to thousands of acres of Connecticut forests, particularly those with stands of maples, birches, elms and willows. The beetle arrived in the U.S. from China and Korea in wood shipping pallets and other packaging material. It was first detected in the New York City area in 1996 and has since been discovered in Chicago, New Jersey and more recently in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Governor said the Worcester infestation, which destroyed 24,000 trees, has been the worst in the nation. The beetle has not yet been discovered in Connecticut. The Governor urged all citizens to be on the lookout for the beetle in their yards and when out in forests and parks and contact the DEP immediately if anyone suspects they may have seen the beetle. It is described as a large black beetle with white spots, it ranges between an inch to 1 ¼ i nches long.

Summer Vacation Time!

This is it! August 1st! Time to take some days off to relax and enjoy the summer season. This is the best part of summer. Whether you have a pool in your backyard, or take a few weeks and rent a summer home on a lake or at the beach, this is prime season time. The month of August.

Be sure to cover your family and yourself, with suntan lotion and, oh yes, bug repellent. All of the unusual rain, this summer, has brought out too many mosquitos! Be safe and enjoy your days in the sun!

I am on Facebook for business only. If some people who know me through business want to share ideas and tips with me, than fine. I do connect. I do not connect with people I don't know, unless, there is a business relationship forming. Some of the stuff going on is a bit scarry. Many relationships are falling apart because of the chatter that goes on. Instead of talking with their spouse, they are seeking advice from people that they don't even know. For that, I feel bad. Some folks who never saw it coming. Like I said, a bit scarry. People who have spent years and years together, happily, are now seeing their lives fall apart. What you are posting, will stay on that site, forever. Talk with your spouse, not stranger(s) who say they are your friends. Your true happiness depends on it! I'm sticking to business:) Stick to the real world!

Warm Winter Day in Connecticut!

Today it was 62 degrees in Connecticut. It was just lovely. The sun felt so good! It didn't melt all the snow, but, did get rid of most of the thick ice that seems to be everywhere. Sidewalks, driveways and walkways around town. The company that maintains the snow removal at the Lowe's parking lots in our area, has done an outstanding job this winter. I visit Lowe's quite often and this winter I was very pleased with the excellent condition of their parking area. Other nearby businesses and stores were not nearly as comparable. I understand that it has been a snowy and icy winter, but, when you go shopping, you expect a clear parking area.

I, send my clients to Lowe's. Snowplowers of Lowe's Store in Manchester, You are appreciated!

Today was an unusually warm day in Connecticut. Winter for us is not over. I know more snow will be arriving soon. As beautiful as the white snow is, the sun was appreciated today! I am looking forward to spring:)
